Join the Friends of Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge to Find Your Wild!

Join Friends of Hakalau Forest NWR in celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Hakalau Forest NWR! There will be a 5 km walk through the forest with expert guides stationed along the way. Also, there will be natural history exhibits for all ages. Within the Refuge, shuttles will be available to take attendees to the Refuge headquarters for presentations of our history, demonstrations, and tours of the newly renovated greenhouse.

Directions to Pua ʻĀkala Gate: 4WD vehicle required. Turn right off Mauna Kea Access Rd after about 2 miles onto unpaved Keanakolu/ Mana Rd. Continue for 10.5 miles to Pua Akala. Look for signs at both Mana Rd. and Pua Akala intersections.

Event Details:

We have reached the maximum number of attendees for Find Your Wild to be held at the Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, September 13, 2025. We have placed a limit on the number of people who can attend this one-day event to ensure that there are no adverse effects on native birds and plants. Thank you for your understanding. We hope to have a 5th Find Your Wild event in 2026.
